The Fortis SAS Smock takes inspiration from elite military design, combining exceptional utility with dependable weather protection for demanding outdoor use. Despite its name, the sas smock is technically a jacket. Its title originates from military practice, where soldiers would tighten the drawcords at the waist and hem, unzip to the midsection, and use this setup to efficiently discard magazines while in action.
Featuring a drawcord waist and hem, four front tape-secured pockets, and a choice between waterproof or water resistant shell variants, it’s built for performance in a variety of environments; whether you’re on the range, in the field, or navigating tough terrain. Made with our tough ripstop fabric and featuring adjustable cuffs, integral hood and precision detailing, this jacket embodies true functionality and resilience for those who rely on their gear.

Fantastic bit of kit, I have never wanted for rain so much

The quality of jacket I purchased is excellent, unfortunately it is on the large side, however I contacted Fortis and without any quibble they will replace the same in a size I would like.

I love my SAS smock , its got loads of zip pockets for phones and keys and its warm . Very well made with chunky zips

The SAS Smock arrived quicker than l thought, the size l ordered was just right for me. lm normally a 40 inch chest and the size small fitted great, a medium would have been too big as they do come up bigger as they detail on Site.

Absolutely thrilled with this Smock. The quality is immediately obvious before you even put the Smock on. It is also important to praise just how perfect the Smock fitted me; i had supplied the measurements to Fortis and they took care of the rest! I have worn the Smock most days since delivery and on a number of occasions was outside five or six hours in heavy rain and wind. On return home the water drops were still on the surface, they had not even be absorbed by the outer layer! Out of dozens of jackets and outdoor garments over the years this Smock has the best hood; its cut and shape along with cord fasteners means it sits in exactly the right position. Little details like this combine to mean that it is a real pleasure to put it on knowing full well it will keep you warm and dry without you sweating and feeling uncomfortable. Go ahead and treat yourselves, you will not be disappointed!

I took the smock to work, got caught in storm darragh on motorcycle nothing but thin jacket underneath. Blistering wind heavy rain cold. Was I cold? yes, but was I bone dry absolutely. You don't feel the wind hitting the body you feel it hitting the jacket which in turn makes the jacket cold On the body, with a average fleece you'll be fine and wo t feel anything, I had next to nothing underneath with a t shirt in a blistering storm. It was over 30 mile ride in a storm which would have been alot worse if it didn't keep me dry. Doesn't get much tougher than testing it in a storm. I even checked my under jacket for wetness "not a single drop on under jacket" which I was extremely appreciated, I'm happy with the jacket, Practical, plenty pockets for use, large pockets good large adjustable hood, I bought extra large to wear over down jackets for complete element protection. Probably not a jacket to wear for stand alone in extreme conditions stick on a down jacket maybe or a he ay fleece probably get you through most extreme winters. I will be coming back if I need another jacket but I can predict I may not need another one this will last for decades it's so tough. However the wait was longer than expected but I won't hold that against them as the jacket did better than I expected in conditions. Overall fantastic product, quality designed, definitely made to be put to work. With it's durability so far been incredible tough it's not gonna rip or tear on daily grind. It's definitely made to be put through alot of extreme environments before it gives in, I know this is gonna last a lifetime.. If you happy for the wait then go ahead and buy.

Awesome piece of kit from an outstanding company

Great jacket delivered on time as requested. Really happy with the product will be in daily use this winter, but would love to see them make the same product in Double Ventile Cotton as per the original jackets issued in the 70s to early 90s.
