Sewing Machine Apprentice
Location: Axminster, Devon
We are looking for a Sewing Machine Apprentice to join the Fortis production team.
This is an opportunity to learn traditional and technical garment manufacturing within a British-made outdoor clothing company. You’ll work alongside experienced machinists producing high-performance garments built for the outdoors.
No extensive experience required, just enthusiasm, willingness to learn and strong attention to detail.
You’ll learn:
- Industrial sewing techniques
- Garment construction
- Working with technical fabrics
- Quality control
- British manufacturing processes
Ideal for someone who:
- Enjoys practical work
- Has an eye for detail
- Is interested in clothing manufacture
- Wants to learn a skilled trade
Work From Home Sewing Machinists
UK-Based Opportunities
Fortis is always interested in hearing from experienced sewing machinists who may wish to work from home producing garments for us.
Whether you are based locally to Devon or elsewhere within the UK, we would love to hear from skilled individuals who take pride in high-quality workmanship.
This flexible way of working helps us continue supporting British manufacturing while working with talented machinists across the country.
Ideal candidates:
- Experienced sewing machinists with an industrial sewing machine at home
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently
- Experience with technical or heavy-duty fabrics beneficial
Event Staff
Fortis attends some of the UK’s biggest country, outdoor and lifestyle events throughout the year, and we are always interested in hearing from enthusiastic individuals who would like to join our show team.
From major game fairs and agricultural shows to outdoor events across the country, our event team plays a huge role in bringing the Fortis brand to life and helping customers experience our products firsthand.
This role is ideal for someone who:
- Enjoys meeting and talking with people
- Has an interest in the outdoors or country lifestyle
- Is hardworking, friendly and reliable
- Enjoys travelling and working as part of a team
- Can work in fast-paced event environments
What’s involved:
- Travelling to events across the UK
- Assisting with stand setup and pack down
- Welcoming and helping customers
- Product knowledge and sales support
- Representing the Fortis brand at events
A few extra requirements:
- Comfortable travelling and staying away during events
- Happy camping and living as part of the team onsite during show periods
- Flexible and positive attitude in busy event environments
