The Highland Shooting Coat is a traditional but fashionable waterproof coat, built to withstand the elements on a day’s shooting. Ultimately, this coat is in a league of its own, with functionality and features that you would need for any country pursuit. It is perfect for constant outdoor use and will keep the cold away without the restriction of movement which is often seen in other medium-weight coats.
A very generous coat. We would highly recommend going
down a size to what you would usually buy on the
high-street.

The best example of you get what you pay for!!One of the best coats I’ve ever owned keeping me dry and warm out in the field.

After much discussion with Fortis I went for the Highland coat. Glad I had the discussion before I did or I would have gone for the large Falkland and would no doubt have cooked in it.
These coats do come up large as Fortis said they do,so medium is the new large in this case. I am normally in a large but medium is certainly roomy enough to layer up under it. Not that you need to with this coat unless you are standing around and its well below freezing. It is a warm coat. I normally wear merino base or mid layer under it and a fleece only if its really cold and I am going to be still.
It is also very waterproof and the hood is one of the best I have ever used.
If you shoot/stalk its also extremely quiet with hardly any rustle when moving and no noise when pushing through under growth.
Plenty of useful pockets too and the best handwarmer pockets ever.
Very durable fabric too.
This has replaced several winter coats I own.
I did buy a lighter weight Fortis Field Jacket for the spring/summer as it really is too warm for those months.
And they do excellent customer service as well
No I don’t work Fortis, it really is this good.
Not sure about the new tartan lining though, mine was a version before this. It’s a Highland so I guess it goes with the name But I am sure they will do it with a plain lining if you ask.
