Why did Fortis® want to make boots?

 All boot makers are making great boots and at Fortis we are just wanted to fill a gap that we think is missing.

We have been inundated over the years with requests to make a boot but we needed our customers to tell us what would make the ‘perfect’ boot!

The main points were:

• Lightweight
• Comfortable
• Breathable
• Waterproof

& lastly, like all our Fortis products, it MUST be tough, reliable & hardwearing!

From feedback, we found that other boots on the market were too heavy, so therefore we have created a lightweight boot that remains hard-wearing during all pursuits in the outdoors.

Being comfortable in the boots you wear is also important when you can be wearing them for 10+ hours a day, 7 days a week! To ensure extreme comfort, we have added two soles to the boot.

There is nothing worse than getting hot feet during a day out in the great outdoors. Having wet feet defeats the idea of waterproof boots, therefore breathability is key to being comfortable. We have designed the boot with a Nubuck Leather outer and a Primaloft® insulation inner. A subtle insulation had to be added to the boot to ensure warmth on a cold, wet day; primarily when the boots will be in use.

Our reputation for waterproof clothing is something we are proud to have achieved. So we only wanted to use a brand that had the same reputation for waterproof boot technology, leading us to use eVent®.

We teamed up with an Italian Boot Maker for their knowledge, skill and quality in this sector. We used, abused and tested our many models of boots in all environments over 5 years. We are now very pleased that these are ready to be sold, as we believe “they do as they say on the tin”!

Why did we choose eVent Waterproofing for our boots?

The technology is microscopic.

The difference is huge.

The billions of microscopic pores in our proprietary waterproof membrane work instantly to vent the heat and sweat that you generate when you are active. Why did we choose PrimaLoft® for insulation?

PrimaLoft® insulation for footwear is specifically engineered for repeated wear and extreme conditions, protecting your feet from the cold snow, hot turf and wet weather.

PrimaLoft® BioTM fibers are designed to return to materials found in nature. This helps reduce the long-term impact of microplastics.

Why did we choose Vibram®?

For over 80 years, since the creation of the first rubber sole for mountaineering “the Carrarmato”, Vibram has been a guarantee of quality and performance, innovation and design.
