The SAS Smock is a reliable practical smock that over time has been developed into a jacket. It is a light, quiet and flexible jacket ready to combat any outdoor activity. It was previously manufactured for the Special Forces, MOD and other Military Groups but is now hugely popular in the civilian world. The 4 front pockets help supply storage for numerous objects from binoculars too notepads; and our hardy tape secured buttons will ensure nothing falls out. The Waterproof SAS Smock features an internal waterproof lining that will keep you dry in the harshest of conditions, whilst the Water Resistant SAS Smock is ideal for extreme activities and offers great breathability as well as having water-resistant qualities. The water resistant version is made from a Ripstop outer with no inside liner, creating just a shell with ultimate storage.

A very generous coat. We would highly recommend going

down a size to what they would usually buy on the

high-street.

I have reviewed this once already but wanted to add it has now seen me through 7 seasons of outdoor and deer stalking activities and is still going strong. I think I will have a new one next year or the Venator. Thanks very much

  2. Daniel

Had this jacket now for about 3 years used for shooting and fishing and I have to say its done exceptional. Its still 100% waterproof and nothing has worn at all, what I like about Fortis clothing though is its sizing, Im a big bloke and struggle to find decent kit that fits and Fortis sizes are very generous and roomy.

  3. Alexander

As ex-military I have always been fond of the smock style. This is tougher, waterproof and with extra pockets. Wired hood is excellent. Out beating I can easily carry what I need. Very happy (& dry!).

  4. Roual Hamilton-Morris

Bought this kit and trousers in 2000 from the old man at the Midland game fair.(Country Covers.)
Don’t think it was called the SAS Smock then but it looks the same. All these yrs of seriously heavy use stalking, beating and game keeping hasn’t leaked yet either the trousers or the jacket.
Buy once, cry once. Best British made outdoor clothing on the market.

I own many outdoor jackets and ordered my sas smock at Chatsworth show after viewing many other products and have been wearing it picking up last week. It ticks all the boxes for me. A fantastic technical outdoor jacket with more than ample spacious pockets ,breathable waterproof lightweight and looks the business on. This jacket is certainly worth the wait and now I have ordered the phase 2 trousers as I’m so pleased with the jacket. I must also point out that some youtube reviews seem to make out that you sweat in the jacket which is so far from the truth. Its a technical jacket and with the correct layers it will work in every situation that you through at it. Well done Fortis for superb product.

  6. Paul Dickens

Been using the smock all winter and even up in Norway. Excellent piece of gear , kept me dry and warm . Its got plenty of pockets so great for dog walking and shooting.

  7. Nick Wilkinson

Bought this jacket after seeing it at the South of England Game Fair.
Arrived six weeks later as stated and boy was it worth the wait. ,worn it everyday since, lightweight, 100% waterproof and British
made .Thank you Fortis for a truly stand out jacket, will recommend to all my colleagues.

  8. Charlie Ainley

I have, today, taken delivery of this smock, (along with a pair of the Phase 2 waterproof trousers). Lead time since order has been about 6 weeks. The wait was worth every second – This is a high quality piece of kit and looks to be virtually indestructible. I have, and have had in the past, just about every hunting/shooting related waterproof coat / trousers and I don’t think anything has ever come close to the strength of this piece of kit, – and it’s handmade in the UK. Top quality and excellent value for money Fortis! I won’t be buying waterproof kit from anywhere else in the future. Absolutely lovely people to deal with as well – top marks.

  9. Göran Spong

Best jacket I have owned. Outstanding and durable performance under challenging weather conditions in Swedish alpine north.

  10. Stuart McIntosh

Without doubt the best piece of outdoor outer clothing I’ve ever had. Light in weight, fully wind and waterproof and able to put up with everything from thorn-bushes to children and dogs using it as a plaything.
Great number of pockets all around the coat and it’s used repeatedly throughout the wet and winter weather.

  11. Duncan Connell

Best smock I have ever owned! Has got me through 3 seasons of beating, a season as a ghillie and various other outdoor ventures. Lightweight, silent and waterproof.

  12. Neville McBain

I have owned one of these smocks for ten years and it has been excellent. It has survived countless stalking and trekking expeditions in the Scottish highlands and the south and is still in good condition. It is durable but also light and silent. The design is very practical, for example large pockets with good buttons that don’t come open or require fumbling when you are crawling through heather and trying to keep your eye on something.

  13. Steve Williams

Had this smock for three years. It is the best piece of kit I have used for shooting. massive pockets with plenty of space for everything.
